Ali Kantur graduated from the Department of Industrial Engineering at Middle East Technical University (ODTÜ) in 1970. In 1972, he completed his master's degree in Industrial Engineering and Business Administration at Syracuse University in the United States.

Between 1973 and 1977, he served as a part-time faculty member at the Department of Industrial Engineering at ODTÜ, and from 1973 to 1978, he was also part-time faculty at Gazi University's master's program.

In 1974, he started his career at Tepe Group Companies and held various positions, including company management. He concluded his tenure in 2004 as an Executive Board Member and Chairman of the Board.

Ali Kantur currently serves as the Chairman of the Board at Kantur & Akdaş San. ve Tic. A.Ş., Chairman of the Board at ITC Invest Trading & Consulting AG, Vice Chairman of the Board at Akdaş Döküm San. ve Tic. A.Ş., and President of the TOBB Waste and Recycling Industry Board.
