Bernard Merkx is a social entrepreneur who spent approximately 25 years in various senior management positions in the international plastic recycling and plastic transformation industry before founding his consulting firm, GreenWavePlastics.

With a degree in Business (Polytechnic), Bernard is a member of various international advisory committees and a co-author of several papers and publications.

Bernard serves as the Managing Director of the Brussels-based trade associations European Plastics Converters (EuPC) and the European Single Ply Waterproofing Association (ESWA).

He is also the Chief Information Officer (CIO) and Board Member of Plastix AS in Denmark, the Honorary President of Plastics Recyclers Europe, and a founding partner of the Waste Free Oceans Foundation. Bernard has an extensive international network in both the public and private sectors.

Throughout his career, circularity has been a significant driving force for Bernard.
